Location: On-site in northern New York, United States. Reporting to the Finance, Procurement & IT leadership, the Senior Controller leads the mine site’s accounting and financial reporting functions.
Responsibilities
- Lead the mine site’s accounting and financial reporting functions, including timely month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close.
- Provide general accounting oversight, cost accounting, and budgeting controls/analytics.
- Oversee inventory cycle counts and maintain accuracy of stock records.
- Own FP&A activities, including budgeting and forecasting (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow, headcount/expense management), report generation, and data integrity.
- Maintain capital project spend tracking and capitalization of fixed assets.
- Assist with internal and external audits and implement corrective actions from audit results.
- Prepare financial statements, compliance reports, and regulatory filings on a timely basis.
- Analyze actual results against budget/forecast; prepare ad hoc reports for site and corporate stakeholders.
- Ensure adherence to corporate policies and site procedures; maintain the confidentiality of information.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives with operating departments; communicate potential issues promptly.
- Collaborate with all departments as needed and maintain effective communication with site managers and the corporate office.
- Assist in the implementation of integrated financial systems and ERP programs.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- CPA designation preferred; US work eligibility required.
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a financial leader (public company experience preferred).
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and QuickBooks.
- Experience with construction project management, agile/lean practices, and FP&A.
- Experience selecting and implementing ERP systems in mining/industrial/manufacturing environments.
- Experience with internal controls and SOX implementation.
- Knowledge of tax and transfer pricing issues.
- Knowledge of IFRS accounting standards and best practices; US GAAP experience is essential.
- Strong written and verbal communication in English, critical thinking, and data analysis skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, OneNote, and Teams.
